Yes, it’s the smallest state in India but, it’s just the right place to experience multi- diversity with regard to food, culture, lifestyles and so on.
Following are water sports which are available all across the globe but are a must- try in Goa:
1. Snorkeling
Snorkeling- the right choice to make, hydrophobics! It’s easy, helps you get rid of your phobia, most importantly, it helps you fall in love with water, the depths. You can go snorkeling anytime but, the best time is from November to April. Grab your snorkeling certification from Goa and flaunt it everywhere you go!
2. Kite surfing
Kite surfing is one of the most extremist sport one can experience. It’s thrilling and trust me, you’ll feel like a kite! In simple words, kite surfing is a combination of jet skiing, surfing and wakeboarding- all- in- one!
Most importantly, individuals who are above 18 years of age shall only be allowed to enjoy this experience- it’s dangerous and worth the wait, youngsters! The perfect time to kite surf is during dawn when it’s neither too hot nor, too low and definitely just the way you want to wind to feel you.
3. Zorbing
Water zorbing is for all who thought that balls could never contain us within them and stay afloat! It’s a transparent ball, keeping you within it safe and secure and you can enjoy it once you’re any age above 10! T- shirts and shorts are the perfect zorbing outfit, you can say and it’s loved by tourists are Goa is so very loved for it.
4. Scuba diving:
Explore the unseen land by scuba diving- see where the fish comes from, the beautiful marine life and so on. Goa is the hotspot for scuba diving enthusiasts from all across the globe- as they all say, India’s waters are as diverse as their linguistics! Scuba dive and experience the true sense of meditation, peace of mind and feel the difference.
5. White Water Rafting:
White water rafting- a strange water sport name, eh? But, it’s named so because of the look of the water! It’s a tricky sport, very difficult yet, adventurous, bringing in the adrenaline rush to the right place!
However, please avoid this water sport when the monsoons set in and go for it while the river is conductive. You can wear sneakers, swimwear or tight body hugging garments and ensure that you do not let any part of your body (hair too) act as an obstacle while you white water raft.
6. Dinghy Sailing
Sailors, ahoy! Take your families out for an adventure and act like a pirate, eh? Well, dinghy sailing usually accommodates 4 people at a time and it’s a very calm journey, unlike the pirates! Also, the best time to go dinghy sailing is sometime around October and April and all can travel who are above the age 7. Safety is kept in mind- lifejackets are worn by all!
7.Kayaking
A hit water sport amongst localites as well as global citizens- kayaking! The epic part of the sport is it’s unique boat design- it’s uniquely shaped which can take in only 2 peeople at a time and is the best for the backwaters of Goa. Enjoy wonderful sights on your way like the mangrove forests, pristine beaches etc.
However, not much movement is required while kayaking- it can put you in danger as well. October to February- just the right time to experience this adventure sport. Most importantly, lifejackets are worn here, keeping safety in mind.
8. Parasailing
Love the heights? Go for para sailing. It’s a thrilling experience and rare to find. You need to be air- borne for a certain period of time. A rope is attached firmly to the harness of your para sail and other end to your speedboat. Also, please do not wear loose clothes and children under 15 years of age are not allowed to enjoy such rides.
9. Ringo ride
One amazing ride you can definitely try out- it’s a circular tube over the water surface and it’s so much fun! An exciting sport which always makes you feel like ‘this is it!’ and the experience is endless and always unique. However, some common guidelines must be followed for your safety like, children must not be allowed and tight clothes must be worn.
In the Ringo ride, all you need to do is, sit on it and you’ll be pulled by a speed boat for a certain period of time- feel the strokes of the waves then and live the moment!
10.Jet Ski
One of the most sought water sports in Goa- Jet skiing. It’s so thrilling and goes at a very high speed. It’s like, going Zoooooop without any worries. However, safety measures are a must- kids under the age of 9 are not allowed, individuals should not be hydrophobic, and monsoons are not a great time to go jet skiing due to an increase in the water levels.
However, it’s water soaking, immense fun and there are so many tricks and tips which you can try out while handling your jet ski, adding more delight to your experience! Most importantly, please wear tight fitted clothes like shorts, t- shirts and so on.
11. Water ski
Speeding is your passion? Feel the kick with water skiing. Venture into the deep blue waters on your speed boat. Enjoy the thrill and adventure- all at once. Your skier is pulled by a speed boat and as soon as the speed boat gains momentum, viola! You’ve got to balance over water! It’s hard but, not impossible. Brings in the adrenaline rush and there’s nothing better than that! Sadly, kids under the age of 5 are not allowed or people with special abilities.
12. Speed boating
Another thriller- it’s fast (can reach upto 20 mph) and you have to wear life jackets and be seated with your instructors or guides. It’s a heavy boat with immense power- can accommodate around 8 individuals. A 100% summer boar- fun, refreshing and leads to a lovely tan too!
13. Wakeboarding
It’s a sport all about balancing and adding discipline to fun! Balance yourself on your wakeboard and display your talents. However, you must pay attention to the instructors and prefer wake boarding early in the morning, during the summers.
14. Banana Boat
It’s an inflatable boat and can accommodate around 6 people. Looks like a banana and, it’s extremely funny to look at yet, extremely adventurous. It can glide over waves, making it had to resist. Children under the age of 7 are not allowed. However, this ride is most popular during corporate events- it encourages team building, trust, etc. You can wear a cotton tee and shorts which is most preferred.
15. Windsurfing
‘Perfect for junkies- windsurfing is all about thrill and sailing. Balance yourself on a surfboard and cruise through the harsh, amazing waves. Don’t go for it in the noon- the sun will be harsh and it’s challenging for beginners.
16. Surfboarding
A water sport for the passionate- Surf boarding. Here, catch the wind, surf the mesmerizing waves! It’s a skillful water sport and needs certain amounts of calculation like judging the intensity of waves, the direction and so on. Spring and summer seasons are appropriate for surfboarding and individuals under the age of 18 are not allowed to try out this water sport.
17. Sport fishing
For the not- so- sporting yet, sporting individuals here comes sports fishing! Perfect during the months between October and December, it’s all about offshore fishing. The equipment can turn out to be expensive but, who cares when you get to have quality seafood? Children can fish but, under adult supervision.
18. Barefoot skiing
One of the favorites- barefoot water skiing is water skiing behind a motorboat! The fun part- without water skis! It requires the skier to travel at a very high speed, not like the conventional one.
You need a lot of materials like a boat, handles, ropes, personal flotation device, helmet, paddle shorts and so on to help you enjoy the experience just the way it should be- fun yet, precautious.
19. Boat
A very typical, mainstream water sport which designed to float, travel or function on water. There are several kinds like small boats, ore boats, ships and so on.
It’s a very traditional water sport which varies from country to country. Some places also provide with house boats, pontoon boats, pleasure boats, sail boats, canoe- type boats and so on.
20. Boat racing
Every boy’s favorite is boat racing which is powered by oars and engages in water- borne crafts, mostly. There are several kinds like human powered boats like rowing, dragon boat racing, kayak racing and so on and sail- powered boats, like yacht racing, team racing and more.
21. Bodyboarding
A water sport wherein, the surfer rides a bodyboard on the face, curl or crest of the wave. It’s prime element is a short and rectangular piece of hydrodynamic piece of foam. This water sport gives you the thrill when you see the waves- it’s risky but, extremely adventurous for the wanderlust individuals!
22. Cable skiing
Cable ski is a way to waterboard wherein, the skier’s rope is pulled by an electrical cable! The speed is pretty good, perfect for lovely photographs but, extremely risky.
Be careful when you try out this sport. It’ll give you the ‘jerks’ and ‘feels’ of a water sport altogether.
23. Canoe
It’s a light- weight and narrow watercraft which is pointed at both ends and wide open on top. It’s a great boat for camping, whitewater canoeing, freestyle or, some cheesy outings!
It’s made from fiberglass, aluminum, wood and other materials and is very durable in nature.
24. Canoe Polo
Also called kayak polo, it’s all about polo plus, canoeing which makes it exceptionally creative. You need to have or, have the excitement or, driving force to develop your ball handling skills with a team against you. It’s very athletic in nature and, you need to be extremely fit for this sport. The pitch can be anywhere- a swimming pool or, a river! Also, the blades of the polo paddles are rounded, preventing injuries and is lightweight with all kinds of a guard on.
25. Dragon boat
It’s a wonderfully amazing looking boat which looks like a dragon- comes in all designs and sizes. It’s made from lightweight carbon fiber and other materials, keeping the boat extremely lightweight.
The boat has a tail and a nose- and you need to compete with the other dragon boats to reach to the top!
26. Fishing
A very personal activity which all foodies will want to try out- fishing! Go out in the wild waters and explore different ways in which you can catch fish, what kind of fish you can catch and more. Some method within fishing includes angling, trapping, spearing and so on.

27. Flyboard

This device shall help you ride on water and enjoy multiple water rides like Flow barrel, surf pool, flying reef and more. It’s fun when you visualize yourself on it- it’s over- whelming and can really drive you nuts!
29. Knee boarding
It’s an aquatic sport wherein, you shall be towed on a buoyant, hydro- dynamically shaped boat at a well- planned speed. It’s usually behind a motor boat. It can also be done with surfboards at beaches which is awesome!
But, be careful, when you’re about to complete a wave, don’t be relieved- the fall is when you have to be most precautious!
30. Paddleboarding
Kneel or lie down on your surf or paddle board in the ocean to get the feels! There’s also something called stand up paddle surfing wherein, you need to be standing up while enjoying the sport! All you need to do is, stroke and move along.
It’s hard and experts can be really good at it. But, better late than never, learn how to go about it, apply it and enjoy the waters in one of the unique styles!
31. Picigin
A traditional ball game which is played at the beach in shallow water. It’s one of the best versions of volley and throw ball! A very athletic yet, risky style because, remember, the waves are always out there and they can drag you into the oceans. Please keep young children away from this sport irrespective of how shallow the waters are while you enjoy this sport.
32. Rafting
Raft all the way- it’s a great recreational activity which is consists of an inflatable raft and builds teamwork! The waters can be rough depending upon the level of the individuals participating in the sport. Multiple people use paddles to ensure that the raft is in motion and is an extreme sport! It can be fatal, if not handled well so, beware!
33. Rowing
One of the most competitive water sports- rafting is a sport which has a history ever since the Egyptian times. All you need to do is, propel a boat and use oars to make it ride on the water! It can be recreational or, can be very competitive in nature, depending on the participants!
34. Sailing
One of the most evergreen water sports- sailing- is one of those water sports which can be a leisure as well as a competitive sport. Sip on your wine or, chug your beer while enjoying sailing (reminds me of Popeye the Sailor man!) It’s a great way to move from place to place which has waterways but, is one of the most family- oriented water sports as well.
35. Sit- down hydrofoil
A variation of water skiing, extremely popular water sport wherein, you’re towed at a speed by an extremely powerful boat or, any other device. The hydrofoil flies above water and generally does not come in contact with water, However, there are variations of it like the air board which are more smooth than the prior ones.
